PositionAn opportunity has arisen for a Nursing Assistant at University Hospital Ayr.

What You Will DoWe are looking for individuals with the commitment, dedication, flexibility and reliability to deliver a high quality service. You will work as part of a team delivering individualised person centred care. You will carry out an assigned workload involving direct patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. We are looking for individuals who demonstrate a positive “can do” attitude whilst demonstrating empathy and sensitivity to our patient’s needs. The unit has 22 inpatient beds delivering both ward level and higher level care. We also have a new day case area which is helping change the way we care for our cardiology patients within our community.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The JobSVQ3 in Healthcare related subject and / or equivalent knowledge gained in a relevant area through experience, on the job training and/or short courses or appropriate competency to undertake role.

Can demonstrate a range of core skills to competently undertake patient care and other tasks and activities. .

Training is provided to enable the Senior HCSW to comply with the Mandatory Induction Standards

for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland 2009; and with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers, both as amended from time to time.

Understands and complies with HCSW mandatory induction standards and code of conduct.

Completion and maintenance of statutory & mandatory learning activities.

Continues to develop knowledge and practice through a combination of instruction, on the job learning, attending teaching sessions and study days, where appropriate.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer.
