GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: A nonexempt position responsible for appropriate scheduling of appointments, answering queue calls and reviewing patient orders in the EMR. This position will require proficiency in both technical and interpersonal relationship skills needed to maintain lasting relationships with patients and families, referring physicians, AHI physicians and co-workers. The ultimate goal of this position is to provide the highest level of quality patient care and customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Answers EP-RN Hotline and assists providers in scheduling follow ups and/or procedures for patients.

Oversees appointment and procedure scheduling while ensuring priority is given to patients requiring emergent intervention.

Communicates with preauthorization department to initiate precertification requirements with commercial and/or government insurances.

Ensures all prior authorizations have been obtained prior to scheduled procedure date. If prior authorization is not obtained, schedule modifications may need to be made to avoid any open spaces within the schedule.

Coordinates with outside vendors to ensure necessary surgical equipment is available and ready for use for procedures.

Provides basic preoperative instructions to the patients at time of scheduling including but not limited to: discussions regarding medications and signing consent forms with patients.

Ensure procedure consents are signed, imported into charts, and forwarded to appropriate facilities.

PAY RANGE

: $24-$28/hr to start (dependent upon experience and education)

Qualifications

Education:

Minimum: Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistant with current credentials. Two years scheduling experience, preferably cardiac or surgery related.

Experience:

Minimum: Two years’ experience as a Certified Medical Assistant in a healthcare environment and one to two years’ experience in procedure scheduling in a healthcare environment.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Preferred: Cardiology experience preferred.
