Patient Financial Advocate at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Trophy Club:

Responsible for effective and efficient collection efforts prior to surgery to significantly reduce outstanding balances.

Informing patients of their due estimated balance prior to surgery.

Assisting with calling patients to inform of estimated balance due.

Setting up payment plans with patients, if needed.

Setting up drafts in transaction database.

Reviewing Charity Care applications for completion.

Assist with covering admissions/patient check-in in the afternoon and/or reception.

Special projects as assigned by management.

Required Skills:

Qualifications:

High School graduate or equivalent.

Required Experience:

Knowledge of Medical Insurance terms and calculations

Must have skills necessary to operate the office equipment required to fulfill job duties.

Computer knowledge required.

Good communication skills essential.

Medical terminology preferred.

Responds to telephone and on-site inquiries from patient in a courteous and informative manner.

Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Work comp (Subscriber and non-subscriber) knowledge beneficial.

Previous experience working in a healthcare setting required 1-3 years.

Experience collecting commercial, managed care claims required.
