Full Job Description
Purpose:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Primary Care Medical Assistant o join our medical team. A Medical Assistant is key to patient and clinician satisfaction by assisting with quality medical care and efficient and effective operations through collaborative teamwork.
Clinical Responsibilities:
Every patient visit begins with the conscious well-being of the patient. Each encounter is designed to begin on time and end on time with effective engagement that is warm and nurturing for the patient. Growth mind set filled with positive energy is important for patient care and overall wellness.
Medical Assistants will begin by ensuring that patient history is correct and all demographic information is current. They will then review and update medication list, ensure presence of any relevant lab information, document chief complaint and related symptoms, document secondary complaints and any associated issues.
They will then conduct initial diagnosis activities including vital signs, documenting any issues with medications, recent illness etc. The Medical Assistant will also assist the physician with medical examinations including taking blood samples, electrocardiograms, lab tests, preparing lab specimens, removing sutures, adjust dressings, specialty referrals, prior authorizations for medicines, scheduling appointments, etc. There will be elements of the end to end care continuum where the Medical Assistant will have responsibilities. They may also, under the supervision of the of the physician, discuss basic treatment plans including medication, at home care for stretching, diet and exercise, self-directed physical therapy, and everyday wellness routines.
Patient visit will always conclude with a quality assurance review of the Patient Visit Checklist ensuring that all necessary procedures have been conducted, all orders are complete, and any relevant patient documentation is also complete. At the Family Health Center every patient visit begins and ends with warm reassuring engagements and an invitation to call if there are any needs or concerns.
Administrative Responsibilities:
At the Family Health Center, engaged collaborative teamwork is key to making the dream work. Medical Assistants will ensure a clean healthy environment before the patient visit and immediately after the patient visit preparing exam rooms for the next patient. They will ensure that all medical supplies are ready and on hand for the physician. Supplies and equipment management are necessary on a daily routine to ensure that all future patient visits are efficient. Supply ordering will be conducted by the Office Manager so effective communication as part of the daily routine for supply and equipment needs is critical.
The Medical Assistant will also assist with patient contact, answering phones, getting forms completed and signed by patients, assisting other clinicians and a myriad of general activities as needed.
